A Nevada lobbyist, Richard Perkins became the Chief of Police of the Henderson Police Department in 2006 and retired in 2008 after a 25 year law enforcement career. In addition, Richard Perkins won election to the Nevada State Legislature in 1992, where he served as Speaker of the Assembly from 2000 until 2006.
As Speaker of the Assembly, Mr. Perkins accumulated several accomplishments, such as writing and passing the Sherrie Iverson Law (Assembly Bill 267), enacted in 1999, and launching Nevada State College in 2001, which became Nevada State University. Mr. Perkins also wrote and passed legislation that created the Nevada Homeland Security Commission in 2003. In 2005, he helped make kindergarten a full-day program.
Mr. Perkins took his knowledge of public affairs and launched The Perkins Company in 2008, which he still oversees. His clients include special interest groups, constituency groups, and client groups. As CEO and president of The Perkins Company, he has cultivated valuable relationships with elected officials, which have assisted him with his lobbying efforts.
In 2016, Mr. Perkins also established the Business Council of Canada and Nevada. As CEO and founder, he promotes bilateral trade, tourism, and foreign direct investment. He builds relationships with elected officials and Nevada businesses and counsels Canadian businessmen on Nevada’s growth opportunities.
